Sleep apnea awareness bus tour kicks off in Troy

A nationwide tour aimed at bringing awareness of sleep apnea will launch in Oakland County Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The “Dreams With Hope” bus tour will stop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sleep Solutions, 1280 E. Big Beaver in Troy.
The event will feature mini-sleep apnea screenings and other information on the topic, along with samples of RemZzzs CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) mask liners from Naturs Design Inc., which organized the tour.
Breathing during sleep is interrupted for those with sleep apnea. A CPAP machine is used to keep the airway open with air blown via a mask. Untreated apnea can lead to numerous health problems.
“The Dreams With Hope tour is a unique opportunity,” said Naturs Design Inc. CEO Robert Rutan in a statement. “It’s an opportunity to work together with other sleep professionals, helping raise awareness of sleep-disordered breathing and shining a light on ways that people can determine if they may have a sleep disorder requiring a sleep study, and ways to stay compliant with their therapy.”
At the event, sleep professionals will answer questions and offer mask adjustments.
